On a cold New England day when the temperature didn’t get past 45 degrees, frost was on the ground in the morning and some ice on the track but 75 drivers showed up from all over New England to attend the season finale for GIG Motorsports. The event was expected to be an amazing one with it also being a charity event. Drivers and spectators were encouraged to bring toys to donate for the Toys for Tots charity. Anyone who brought a toy was entered into a raffle. The raffle consisted of the 1st 5 picked getting a free admission to the first event in the 2018 season. Other prizes included GIG Motorsports swag.

Once the driver’s meeting and media meetings were over, it was non-stop drifting all day. The drivers prepped their cars and began to head to the starting grid. After a few minutes, the smell and sounds of burning tires filled the air and most people forgot about how cold it was. The spectators started to show up in droves and only the brave came out early to support the event when it was still only in the 20s outside.
Throughout the day, drivers in all groups and skill levels shredded and put on a show for the crowd. As the day warmed up, the crowd grew in size. The drivers didn’t hesitate putting on a show for the crowd. There was some insanely close tandems all day long. Everyone that attended the event came away pleased and slightly frozen.

Overall it was the perfect way to spend a chilly November Saturday in New England. If you weren’t able to attend, you missed a great event. Should you have been one of the lucky ones to be there, I’m sure you’ll be remembering it until next season. A huge shout out and thank you to Thompson Motor Speedway for allowing us to have another amazing event at this beautiful track. Thank you to the GIG Girls, Mackenzie Sagun and Kristian Rix for coming out and braving the cold so we could get some shots of them with the cars. Thank you to LCPL Chris Ortega for assisting in receiving toys for Toys for Tots. And a big thank you to GIG Motorsports for an amazing season finale and for giving back to a great charity. See everyone next year at the GIG Motorsports season opener.
