KMS Drift is taking grassroots drifting to the next level in 2017.
Our Championship series put the “extreme” in this extreme sport in 2016. Follow us in 2017 as we travel to some of the most diverse facilities in the Carolinas to provide the most adrenaline filled days of drifting imaginable. KMS has established a benchmark of producing the most entertaining events throughout the Carolinas. In addition to drifting, drag racing, and car & truck show N shine, KMS entertainment includes food eating contests, bands, DJ’s, car audio sound off competitions, club games and much more.
KMS Drift Locations: In 2017 we have added events at Carteret Speedway, Carolina Motorsports Park & Anderson Speedway. We are working diligently on our 2017 season schedule and expect to add 1 or 2 more events for the Series. We already have 10 events locked in with anticipation of securing one more for 2017. This is going to be a epic year for KMS Drift as we keep the smoke in the air in 2017!!
Our fan support has grown tremendously in 2017, spectators attending our events have increase of 60% over first 2 events. KMS apparel was a hot commodity sales year to date has gone up 300% over 2016 season. We cannot thank our loyal fans enough for their support; KMS could not do our events and provide the entertainment at such an affordable price without their support.
KMS Drift had two classifications in 2017: Street and Pro. So far our Street class has had 48 registered drivers and 34 earn points towards the Championship Banquet, our Pro class has had 23 registered drivers and 19 earn points towards the Championship Banquet for 2017 season. KMS Drift is pulling drivers from all over the Southeast to compete in our Championship Series. We had 71 drivers competing for an invitation to the finals!
KMS Drift is very very pleased to have 2 of our drivers competing in the Formula Drift series this season in the PRO class, yes the PRO not PRO 2 class. Taylor Hull and Alec Hohnadell started in 2012 with KMS Series, Taylor earned his FD license in 2016, and Alec earned his in 2013. The KMS family wishes them well and hope they podium several times in 2017!!!

The 2017 Nissan Titan Drift Demonstration
For travellers driving past Northlands, the loud screeching of Zestino Tires, clouds of smoke, and enthusiastic cheers escaping from the makeshift skidpad created a wild attraction. The Nissan Drift Demonstration presented by Nissan Titan took place for the first time ever at the 2017 Edmonton Motorshow and the 2-day event brought adrenaline to a few thousand Motorshow guests of all ages. Besides a few cars who fell victim to the wear and tear of the sport, Spec-D Drivers were locked and loaded for a 3rd day of drift madness that never came due to a dump of snow. However, Friday and Saturday were more than enough to pull people outside to get a view of the amazing rotary, V8, and turbo-car sounds that rocked the walls of the Edmonton Expo Centre’s main hallway.

Drift Squad driver, Jason Delehay, recalled the interest of the crowd, “[I] had a lot of people hang out in the pits between demos who were interested in the series and the cars”. Jason trekked up to Oil Country from Calgary to slide his freshly vinyl-wrapped Nissan Skyline and mentioned that the trip was well worth it as he was looking forward to future demos. His 700hp RB32 was quite the hit in the pits as many fans wanted to get a closer look at the clean inline-6 Turbo that powered the car. Many fans made sure to stick around and meet the drivers behind the precision car control that was displayed that weekend. Team Zestino member, Shawn Hartum, shared that he enjoyed meeting the new fans in the pits, witnessing the shared excitement, “my favourite part of the drift demo was witnessing the crowd’s reaction to seeing drifting for the first time “. Even through the tire smoke and from behind the wheel of a 500hp RX-7 you could see the immediate smiles and astonished gazes of the crowd that appeared right from the first turn of the Nissan Titan skidpad. A large majority of the crowd raised their arms when asked by Spec-D MC, Tony Koch, if they were witnessing drifting for the first time. Many of these people became immediate fans of drifting after what took place before them that weekend and took the opportunity to ask the drivers questions, get autographs, take pictures with the drivers and their cars, or even have the chance to sit in the cockpit of a purpose-built drift car.
